Submitted Requests

About Questions and Projects

Conyac uses the terms Question and Project with regard to submitted translation requests. A Question refers to one text document in the request made to a translator. Each individual request can hold multiple Questions (text documents). A Project refers to the request itself. Therefore, a Project contains one or more Questions.

Workflow from a Request to a Translation

Each Question holds a status code that indicates its current status. The possible values are as follows.

status codes

  • 0 : Pending waiting for the system to list this Question
  • 1 : Listing waiting for a translator to accept this Question
  • 2 : Translating a translator has accepted this Question and will translate it
  • 3 : Cancelled the requester has cancelled this Question and it won’t be translated
  • 4 : Completed the translator has finished translating this Question
  • 5 : Expired this Question was automatically cancelled because several translators couldn’t complete it
  • 6 : Translated the translator has translated this Question, and the requester has 24 hours to ask the translator to make amendments to his translation, after which this status will be automatically changed to 4

Callback

The following two events will cause a Callback notice to be sent.

  • When the status of every Question in a Project has changed.
  • When a translator has re-submitted his translation after making amendments.

More information about Callbacks can be found here.

Feedback

The 24-hour period after initial submission of a translation is called the Feedback period.

During this period, the translator may re-submit an unlimited number of amendments.

About the Double Check Feature

By selecting the Double Check option at the time of creating a Question for translation, a requester can have a separate translator verify the accuracy of the translation. Only certain translators, chosen based on past translation performance, may perform Double Check verification. This feature allows us to ensure higher translation quality than normal.

Authority of the Double Check Translator

Even during the Feedback period (24-hour period after initial submission of translation), the translator performing the Double Check may begin double-checking.

As soon as the translator performing the Double Check determines it to be appropriate, authority to interact with the requester, as well as authority to edit, transfers to the translator performing the Double Check.

status codes

  • 11 : Double Check - Listing the Double Check request is open to qualified translators
  • 12 : Double Checking a translator is double-checking the translation
  • 13 : Double Check - Cancelled the requester has cancelled the Double Check request
  • 14 : Completed the translator has finished double-checking the translation
  • 15 : Expired this Double Check request was automatically cancelled because several translators couldn’t complete it
  • 16 : Double-Checked the translator has double-checked the translation, and the requester has 24 hours to ask the translator to make additional amendments to the resulting translation; after 24 hours, this status will automatically change to 14
